| Below you will find a list of the oils I use in my soap recipe. I can not give out the percentage I use of each, as that would be giving out my recipe, and I have worked hard on perfecting that. This list will however, give you an idea of what each oil contributes to the soap. If you would like a free pamphlet on handcrafted soap, please fill in the form below, and I will be happy to send you one. Thank you. |

| Lard: Lard makes a very hard bar of soap, which means it will last longer. Believe it or not, it is also very moisturizing for you skin! Lard was one of the main ingredients in soap in the pioneer days, before there was such a thing as vegetable oil. Olive Oil: I use only 100% pure Olive Oil! It is excellent for the skin, making it soft and moisturized. Grapeseed Oil: This is a light weight oil that is high in vitamins, minerals. It is believed to preserve the natural moisture of aging skin. It makes the soap feel like pure silk on your skin! Coconut Oil: This is one of the most commonly used oils in soap making. It produces a wonderful lather! Palm Kernel Flakes (Oil): This is a form of vegetable oil, obtained from the seed of the palm tree (the kernel of the seed). This is also a lather booster! Castor Oil: This is also a vegetable oil. It is rich in fatty acids and draws moisture to itself, therefore, drawing moisture to your skin. It also helps in the lather. My soap may also contain some of the following ingredients, please read the ingredients list of each soap to see what is in it. If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or email me! May also contain: Goat Milk Powder: I use the powder form because it still gives all the vitamins and minerals that you get in liquid goat milk, but it is easier to control the heat factor. The fat in milk can burn when added to the lye water, giving the soap a dark color and it can effect the scent. By using the powder form, I can still get that nice creamy soap that I want, but with less of a chance of the burning. Coconut Milk Powder: I use this in powder form for the same reason I use Goat Milk in Powder form. French Green Clay: Clays were once believed to have the power of drawing out impurities and removing toxins from the skin. But all I know is that is works great in soap, helping to clean your skin! Ground Loofah: I use this in place of pumice. It is a natural material made from the inside of dried gourds! It will ex-foliate your skin naturally, but is not harsh to the skin. Pine Water: This I make myself by boiling fresh pine bough with spices. I use it in my Adirondack Pines soap as the liquid. Honey Powder: Again, I use this in powder form for the same over heating problem that you can get with milk. Also, not only do you get a nice warm honey scent from it, it also draws moisture to your skin. Plus, the added sugar content in the honey powder adds to the lather boosting! |
